An original multi-layer production cel and production background setup from the Marvel Studios animated series "X-Men" (1992-1997). Featuring a great close up of Magneto as he discusses the conundrum of being stuck in the Savage Land with Charles Xavier, the hand-painted cel and background were created at the studio and used during the animation process. The cel is an actual frame of animation that was photographed and appears in the season two episode "Red Dawn," which aired on November 13, 1993. The background was created for use in the same episode, but it appears that the specific scene was cut, as the Savage Land sequence was moved from the end of the episode to the beginning of the episode. Measuring 10.25"x14" overall, with the character image measuring 7.75"x9.75", the cel and background are in very good condition. The cel displays minor surface wear, including light scratches, slight line fade, and paper backing stuck to the reverse of the paint from studio use and storage. The background shows minimal edge and corner wear, and production-related tape attached to the background cel overlays.
